Hey! Nice to meet you! I’m a lifestyle photographer based in Charleston, SC. Like many photographers, I started out by chasing my nieces and nephews around with my (at the time) fancy new camera. As my love for capturing candid moments, good composition, and killer light grew – so did my favorite new hobby.
Before I knew it, I was carrying ‘Stella’ with me everywhere that I went. That’s how I met my dear friend and mentor, Kelly Vann Calaway. She turned to me at a Gary Clark Jr. show as I was taking photos with my smuggled-in rig. “If you know how to shoot concert photography with no flash, I want to talk to you.”
Kelly – a successful photographer and gifted teacher – provided me with countless and invaluable opportunities to shoot all manner of subject matter from maternity photos to weddings. At the same time, my big brother (a passionate entrepreneur himself) was pressing me to take the next step. Why was I hiding behind a “hobby”? With every imposter syndrome moment I had, he was there to encourage me to do what I love.
Armed with sharpened skills and a wealth of new knowledge about how to build a business and strong client relationships, I knew it was time to take my old hobby a lot more seriously. I have learned a lifetime of lessons and made plenty of mistakes along the way. At the end of the day, I learned that the most beautiful images come not only from technically sound and well composed images; but from happy clients that are confident in my work.
My focus is simple: preserving your memories. I aim to capture beautiful images, including a wealth of candid lifestyle shots to capture what makes you – and your family – beautiful.
